BLACK STARS BEGINS 2025 UNITY CUP SEMIFINAL PREPARATION

BLACK STARS

The Ghana national football team, the Black Stars, have officially started their preparations for the upcoming semifinal of the 2025 Unity Cup, with 16 players reporting to camp in West London. The tournament is set to be staged at the Gtech Community Stadium, home of Brentford FC, from May 27 to May 31, 2025.

Ghana will face arch-rivals Nigeria in a high-profile semifinal clash on Wednesday, May 28, a fixture often referred to as the “Jollof Battle” due to the long-standing rivalry and cultural ties between the two nations. The first semifinal, scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, will see Jamaica take on Trinidad & Tobago in an all-Caribbean encounter.

The tournament will conclude on Saturday, May 31, with the third-place match and the final to crown the 2025 Unity Cup champions.

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has voiced the team’s commitment to delivering a strong performance, saying, “We’re looking forward to an intense battle on the pitch and making our country proud.” Head coach Otto Addo is expected to announce the full squad shortly, which will likely include a blend of seasoned internationals and emerging talents.

The Unity Cup is more than just a football competition—it serves as a celebration of African and Caribbean heritage, while also offering national teams a valuable opportunity to fine-tune their squads ahead of future international assignments.
