20,000 TREES ON GREEN GHANA DAY CELEBRATION AT SEFWI AKONTONMRA.

As part of effort to protect the environment against climate change and biodiversity across Ghana and some part of Africa especially Community devastation areas,3T Company Limited Ghana, partner green Ghana project (4th edition) to planted 20,000 trees on 21 hectors of Cocoa depleted areas to reclaim the land at Sefwi Akontombra Community including Esaase and Yamfo in  the Western North Region.. 

Speaking in an interview with the media,the Community Engagement Project Officer, Amin Mohammed, explained that,3T has initiated an ambitious, large scale native ecosystem restoration project and is currently undergoing validation with the verified carbon standard with the goal to plant about 50,000 hectors across Africa. 

Touching on the benefits of the project to the communities,he said, it will provide alternative employment opportunities that pay fair wages and prioritize hiring from town and villages nearby. He commended the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, Katakye Kwasi Bumagama and other sub Chiefs for secured huge land for the project.

 

The Akontombra District Director of Agriculture, Gabriel Akwatey on his part commended 3T Company Limited Ghana for the project, assured his outfit preparedness to make sure that all the trees planted would be maintained properly. He bemoaned the increase of Illegal mining activities that needs to be addressed by authorities in order not to devastate the land. He said the project is going to ensure that food security is assured as well

The Chief of Sefwi Akontombra, Nana Kwabena Ebee on his part also commended 3T Company Limited Ghana. He assured farmers that the company will release their compensations to them, not to scared that their land will be taken from them.

He commended the president of Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo for initiating this Greening Ghana and it will help to restore our degraded forest which was destroyed by the illegal lumbering and illegal mining activities
