ANGRY RESIDENTS OF DOME – PILLAR 2 AND CHRISTIAN VILLAGE BLOCKS MAIN ROAD OVER FLOODING TODAY

Angry residents of Dome Pillar 2 in the Dome Kwabenya constituency of the Ga East Municipality in the Greater Acra Region have blocked the major road linking Dome Pilar 2 township to Christian Village after some houses in the area submerged in downpour on this morning.
 
The victims have blamed the intensity of the floodwaters on the erection of some structures by individuals on the river Bank.

It took the intervention of a reinforcement from the Ghana Police service, NADMO and the Ghana National Fire Service to bring the situation under control.

Immediately after a 10-minute downpour at Dome Pilar 2 township this morning, the gutters and drainage systems were filled with water rising above window level and spreading into residents’ houses.

According to some of the residents, the gutters have been choked for some time now, adding that, all attempts to call upon the authorities to act have proved futile.

Speaking to the media at the scene, the Ga East Municipal NADMO Director, Seth Osei Kissi said the affected residents are afraid they will be carried away in the flood if proper help doesn’t come their way.
