The United States has donated 14 Puma M36 Mk 6 armored personnel carriers (APCs) to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), originally intended for Niger but rerouted following the suspension of U.S.-Niger military relations. Manufactured by United Manufacturing Technologies (OTT-USA), the Puma M36 Mk 6 is designed to offer enhanced protection and mobility in demanding operational environments.

While exact details of the training programs were not publicly disclosed, the U.S. Army is known for its ongoing cooperation with the GAF, including recent joint efforts in medical readiness and engineering training. This strong partnership suggests that Ghanaian troops will receive comprehensive training on operating and maintaining the newly acquired APCs.

This donation is part of a wider U.S. initiative to strengthen the defense capabilities of West African nations. Alongside Ghana, countries such as Benin and Côte d'Ivoire have also received similar support, reflecting a regional effort to enhance security and stability.
