PROF. YAYRA DZAKADZIE REMOVED AS NACCA DIRECTOR GENERAL

DZAKADZIE

Prof. Yayra Dzakadzie has been relieved of his duties as the Director-General of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA). The dismissal was confirmed on May 6, 2025, and comes under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.

Though the government has not publicly disclosed the reasons behind the decision, Prof. Dzakadzie’s removal marks a significant change within Ghana’s education regulatory framework. He was initially appointed by the previous government and played a pivotal role in overseeing curriculum reforms and policy development within NaCCA.

Before leading NaCCA, Prof. Dzakadzie served as Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and was formerly the Director for Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education. An accomplished academic, he is recognized for his specialization in educational assessment, measurement, evaluation, research, and statistics.

During his tenure, he contributed to the development and implementation of several education policies and frameworks aimed at improving learning outcomes and aligning the national curriculum with international standards.

As of now, no official announcement has been made regarding his replacement. Stakeholders in the education sector are closely watching for further developments and a possible restructuring at NaCCA.
