PROF. LORD MENSAH TAKES HELM OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE
PROF. LORD NAMED HEAD OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Professor Lord Mensah, a renowned academic and financial economist at the University of Ghana Business School, has been appointed as the new Head of the Local Government Service. His appointment marks a strategic move to infuse expert knowledge and financial discipline into Ghana’s decentralized governance system.
Prof. Mensah holds a PhD in Applied Economics-Finance from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, and an MSc in Financial Mathematics from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. He also earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from KNUST. Over the years, he has built a strong reputation in academia, with several publications and international presentations to his name.
Beyond the classroom, Prof. Mensah has consulted for key institutions such as the Bank of Ghana, the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the UNDP. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the African Centre for Development Finance, where he has contributed significantly to policy research and capacity building.
His new role is expected to bring significant improvements to local governance in Ghana, especially in enhancing transparency, financial management, and service delivery across local government structures.
