The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the National Signals Bureau and the Nigeria Police Force, has successfully rescued two women who were featured in a widely circulated and disturbing kidnapping video. The footage, which showed one of the victims being stripped and assaulted with a machete, caused widespread alarm on social media and prompted urgent security action.

Authorities confirmed that a total of eight suspects have been arrested in both Ghana and Nigeria as part of a coordinated cross-border operation. Among the victims was Ama Serwaa Konadu, a 39-year-old hairdresser and event decorator from Asiakwa in the Eastern Region. She was reportedly abducted on April 22, 2025, while heading to work. A day later, her captors sent nude videos of her being abused to her family, demanding a ransom of GH₵500,000.

The police commended the swift cooperation between Ghanaian and Nigerian security agencies, which led to the successful rescue of the victims and arrest of the suspects. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have promised to provide further updates in due course.
