President John Dramani Mahama is set to officially launch the Adwumawura Programme today, Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi. This initiative is part of the government's ongoing efforts to address youth unemployment and foster entreprenuership.

The Adwumawura Programme aims to support the creation, tracking and monitoring of at least 10,000 businesses annually, with a special focus on empowering young Ghanaians between the ages of 18 and 35. The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, in collaboration with the National Entreprenuership and Innovation Programme(NEIP), will oversee the implementation of this initiative.

The programme is a key aspect of the National Democratic Congress(NDC)'s broader vision to generate 250,000 jobs annually through various projects, including the Edwuma Pa" Programme. To kickstart the project, the government has allocated GHC100million in the 2025 budget.

Participants in the Adwumawura Programme will benefit from a range of services, including skills training,mentorship,start-up capital, and access to essential business equipment. Additionally, new businesses will receive tax breaks, with exemptions from both corporate and personal income taxes for the first two years after their establishment.

This launch is part of a series of initiatives by President Mahama, who is also expecteded to introduce the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (Mahama Cares) and the National Apprenticeship Programme later this week.
