MAHAMA NOMINATES NEW MCEs

DRAMANII

President John Dramani Mahama has put forward the names of two individuals for the roles of Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) in the Central Region of Ghana. Reverend Atta Mensah has been nominated to serve as the MCE for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, while Gariba Adam has been proposed for the same position at the Assin Central Municipal Assembly.

This announcement was made on May 28, 2025, by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs. The nominations are subject to approval by the respective local assemblies, as stipulated by Article 243(1) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

These appointments are intended to enhance local governance and support the ongoing efforts toward decentralization and development within these municipalities. The local assemblies are expected to convene shortly to discuss and vote on the confirmation of the President’s nominees.
