LOWER MANYA KROBO NDC REJECTS NOMINEE

MANY KROBO

The Lower Manya Krobo branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally expressed its disapproval of the President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE). This objection follows the recent announcement by President John Dramani Mahama, who named 33 individuals as District Chief Executive (DCE) nominees for various municipalities and districts within the Eastern Region.

The rejection by the local party chapter signals internal dissatisfaction with the selection process and questions the nominee’s alignment with the interests and expectations of the grassroots members. Party insiders suggest that the nominee did not enjoy broad-based support from local stakeholders, including constituency executives and community leaders, raising concerns about the potential for unity and effective governance at the municipal level.

Despite the rejection, the Presidency remains firm on its choices. Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, has stated that all the nominated DCEs, including the one for Lower Manya Krobo, will be confirmed. He emphasized the government's confidence in the competence and loyalty of the selected individuals, assuring the public that the appointments are in line with national development goals.

The unfolding situation underscores the delicate balance between central government decisions and local party dynamics. It also highlights the importance of consultation and consensus-building in political appointments, particularly in regions where internal party cohesion is vital to administrative success.
