HOUSE RECONVENES TODAY

Parliament officially resumed its sittings today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, ushering in the Second Meeting of the First Session of the 9th Parliament after the Easter recess. MPs are returning to a packed legislative schedule that includes debating bills, engaging in committee work, and addressing key national issues.
A major focus of the session will be the Finance Minister’s presentation of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review in August. According to Second Deputy Majority Whip Richard Acheampong, ministers will also be reporting on their recent achievements and future plans.
In preparation, the Minority Caucus held a weekend retreat to assess its performance and set strategic goals for the session. Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin emphasized the caucus’s commitment to holding the government accountable and reaffirmed its ambition to take power in the 2028 elections, promising responsible and effective opposition leadership.
