The Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) has strongly criticized the Trades Union Congress (TUC) for excluding it from the official programme of this year’s May Day parade. The GFL described the move as unjust and accused the TUC of monopolizing the event, which should represent the collective voice of all labour unions.

In a statement, the GFL expressed frustration over the lack of inclusivity, arguing that such actions undermine the spirit of unity within the labour movement. It emphasized that May Day should be a platform for all labour bodies to express their views and participate equally.

The federation also condemned remarks made during the parade regarding the ongoing issue involving the Chief Justice, calling them "premature and presumptuous." The GFL noted that no joint decision had been made by labour leadership on the matter, and warned that such statements could be seen as biased or politically motivated.

Concerns were also raised about the TUC's position on illegal mining, with the GFL cautioning that national advocacy efforts must be based on broad consultation to avoid misinterpretation.

To address these issues, the GFL is calling for an urgent meeting of the interim leadership of Organized Labour by the end of May. The aim is to rebuild unity, improve transparency, and ensure inclusive decision-making within Ghana's labour movement.
