DEMOLITION AT SAKUMO RAMSAR SITE WAS WELL-PLANNED

NADMO stands for the National Disaster Management Organisation. It is a government agency in Ghana responsible for coordinating responses to disasters and emergencies. Its mandate includes disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. NADMO works with local and international partners to manage natural and man-made disasters, such as floods, fires, epidemics, and other emergencies, to protect lives, property, and the environment.

NADMO has stated that the demolition of illegal structures at the Sakumo Ramsar Site was carried out with proper coordination and legal backing. The operation involved collaboration among key state agencies and was part of broader efforts to protect the wetland from environmental degradation and reduce the risk of flooding. NADMO assured the public that safety and ecological sustainability were prioritized throughout the exercise.
