Work has officially begun on the old Barrier to Bortianor section of the Atta Mills Memorial Highway, marking a key milestone in improving infrastructure within the Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom Constituency.

The approximately 9- kilometer stretch, which commenced construction on May 1, 2025, is part of the District Roads Improvement Programme(DRIP) and is being supported by both national and district authorities.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Felix Akwetey Okley, is leading the intiative, fulfilling a promise to address the deteriorating condition of the road. He emphasized the daily struggles faced by residents and commuters and expressed appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa- Addo for making DRIP more responsive to urgent local needs.

The project aims to improve road safety and accessility for thousands of residents and motorists. However, MP Akwetey also raised concerns about the recurring mudslides that sever the road between the toll booth and Weija during heavy rains. He called on the Roads Ministry and government to implement a lasting solution to prevent future disruptions.

An engineering team is overseeing the project, with DRIP equipment sourced from both the district and national levels. Once completed, the improved roadway  is expected to enhance mobility and quality of life for residents of Ga South Municipality.
