CALL FOR EOCO REBRANDING TO REGAIN PUBLIC TRUST
REBRANDING EOCO
Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, former Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, has called for a thorough rebranding of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to help restore public trust and reinforce the agency’s role in the fight against financial crime.
Speaking in an interview, Dr. Adomako Kissi expressed concern over what he described as the declining credibility of EOCO due to recent controversies and widespread public skepticism about its operations. He believes that the agency’s perceived lack of transparency and operational inefficiencies have significantly eroded public confidence.
To address these issues, he proposed a comprehensive rebranding strategy that goes beyond a mere name change or logo redesign. According to him, the transformation should include institutional reforms, enhanced operational independence, and more transparent communication with the public. He emphasized the importance of improving accountability mechanisms within the agency and building a more professional image.
Dr. Adomako Kissi also highlighted the need for EOCO to engage more actively with citizens and stakeholders, which he believes would promote greater understanding of its mandate and foster cooperation in addressing economic and organized crimes. He maintained that a revitalized EOCO would not only be more effective in its duties but would also restore public faith in its ability to deliver justice fairly and efficiently.
His comments come at a time when there have been growing calls from civil society and the general public for reforms in Ghana’s anti-corruption institutions.
