On Tuesday, 29th October 2024, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency, Hon. Alfred Obeng-Boateng, engaged in a series of impactful meetings across the Basengele Electoral Area, visiting the communities of Mframakrom, Ahoikrom, Fawanihwe, and Kwartenkrom. These gatherings, characterized by lively discussions and community involvement, aimed to reinforce the positive strides of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its presidential candidate, Dr. Mohamudu Bawumia.
During his meetings, Hon. Obeng-Boateng passionately advocated for the policies of the NPP, highlighting the immense benefits of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) initiative. He recounted numerous stories from parents whose children have benefitted from this policy, allowing families to save significantly on educational expenses while ensuring that the youth are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to become effective contributors to the nation’s workforce. “Investing in education is investing in our future,” he stated, emphasizing the critical role of the youth in driving national development.
The MP also addressed the agricultural community, encouraging farmers to turn out in large numbers to vote for both Dr. Bawumia and himself in the upcoming December elections. He pointed out the remarkable increase in the producer price of cocoa, a development that has brought renewed hope and prosperity to many farming families in the region. “Your vote is your voice. Let it be heard loud and clear in support of the NPP, which has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the agricultural sector,” he urged.
Hon. Obeng-Boateng reiterated the importance of retaining the NPP government, asserting that their continued leadership is essential for the protection and expansion of the Free SHS program and for the rollout of further developmental projects in the constituency. Voting in this election is about more than simply making a choice; it's also about showing gratitude for policies and programs that have improved people's lives. Let us give this administration the credit it deserves for all we've accomplished together, he stressed.
Reflecting on his tenure, the MP outlined several notable achievements that have positively impacted the community, including the Greener Pastures Program, which focuses on enhancing agricultural practices, and the construction of 56 mechanized boreholes that have improved access to clean water. He also highlighted the completion of 19 basic school infrastructures at various stages, improvements in health infrastructure, and efforts towards massive youth employment initiatives. Scholarships have been awarded to deserving students, and the construction of roads and telecommunications networks has been prioritized to enhance connectivity and commerce within the constituency. Additionally, he celebrated the establishment of modern sports infrastructure, including Astro Turfs, which have provided a platform for youth engagement and physical development.
The communities voiced their concerns and aspirations, expressing a strong need for improved Basic School infrastructure, durable durbar grounds, reliable telecommunications masts, and the rehabilitation and construction of roads. They also requested connections to the national electricity grid to enhance their living conditions and support local businesses. In response, the MP assured them of his unwavering commitment to advocating for these needs. I will collaborate diligently with the government to identify enduring solutions to the difficulties confronting our communities. Together, we can build a brighter future for our children and the generations to come,” he promised.
Hon. Obeng-Boateng was joined by Nana Amoah, a respected member of the Council of Patrons, along with Constituency Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, and Polling Station Executives. Their presence underscored the unity and strength of the NPP in the region as they collectively seek to further enhance the living standards of their constituents.
