"MAHAMA UNVEILS BLACK STAR EXPERIENCE,PROMISES MAJOR INVESTMENTS IN TOURISM"
MAHAMA UNVEILS BLACK STAR EXPERIENCE
Former President John Dramani Mahama officially launched the "Black Star Experience" on May 1, 2025, at the Freedom and Justice Monument in Accra. This year-round initiative aims to position Ghana as the leading cultural and tourism destination in Africa.
The program focuses on seven core pillars: cinema, audio, cuisine, aesthetics, style, literature, and heritage, all designed to highlight Ghana's rich cultural heritage and vibrant creative industries.
Key goals of the Black Star Experience include rebranding Ghana’s image globally, boosting economic growth through job creation, especially for youth and women, and attracting international investments and partnerships to enhance the nation's standing in the global tourism market.
The program will feature an annual calendar of events, including Ghana Music Week, Creative Connect, and the festive Detty December series, which will attract both local and international visitors. Plans for a state-of-the-art film studio, Ananse Studio, are also underway to support the local film industry.
International collaborations are also being explored, such as a potential "Black Star Week" in Atlanta, which will showcase Ghanaian talent and culture on the global stage. Through this initiative, Ghana aims to celebrate its cultural legacy and create sustainable economic opportunities, solidifying its position as a top cultural tourism destination in Africa.
