The Command and Staff College Head of the Ghanaian Armed Forces Meets with the Second Deputy Speaker
Major General Matthew Essien, commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), along with other senior officers, paid a courtesy visit to the office of Rt Hon. Andrew Amoako Asiamah, second deputy speaker of parliament, earlier today.
It was with the intention of formally inviting Mr. Speaker, the House Leadership, and Members of Parliament to the forthcoming public lecture on July 1, 2024, that the visit was made. The lecture will provide a platform for discussions on security issues generally as well as those relating to national defense and security specifically. A reflection of Democratic authority over the military, the path forward for sustainability" is the focus of the public talk.

While formally inviting Major General Essien and his colleagues to the Legislative House for the public lecture, the second deputy speaker praised their initiative and the visit.Mr. Speaker emphasized that this is the epicenter of democracy.
To further, Hon. James Agalga, who is the top lawmaker on the defense and interior committees, said, "This is an exercise that require the fullest participation of the House." He went on to say that he will personally attend the public lecture.


The delegation was hosted by Mr. Speaker with the assistance of Mrs. Jane Frimpong, the Senior Principal Assistant Clerk in charge of Leadership, Speakership and Membership Services, Mr. Anthony Agyekum, Director of Media Relations, Mr. Sebastian David Damoah, Director of Public Engagement, Supt (rtd) Effia Tenge, and a few officers of the Parliamentary Service.
