Ghana’s Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has terminated the contracts of all Regional and Zonal Coordinators under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), effective immediately.
Although no official reason was given for the dismissals, the Minister expressed appreciation for the coordinators' contributions and instructed them to report to the GSFP Secretariat to collect their termination letters and complete necessary handover procedures.
This action aligns with commitments Dr. Lartey made during her vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee in January 2025, where she pledged to address long-standing issues within the GSFP—particularly delays in payments to caterers and concerns over the quality of meals provided. She stressed her intention to reform the programme through stakeholder engagement and practical solutions.
Despite public speculation about the motive behind the mass terminations, there is no indication of personal or political vendettas. The move appears to be part of a broader effort to restructure and revamp the GSFP for greater effectiveness.
