In a recent interview with the BBC, former U.S. President Joe Biden sharply criticized Donald Trump's stance on the Russia-Ukraine war, calling it a form of "modern-day appeasement." Biden condemned Trump’s suggestion that Ukraine should consider giving up territory to Russia in pursuit of peace, likening it to the failed appeasement strategies of the 1930s.

He warned that yielding to Russian President Vladimir Putin's demands would only embolden further aggression and weaken the United States' credibility among its European allies. Biden stressed the need for strong international alliances, especially NATO, to counter authoritarian threats and uphold democratic values.

Biden also took aim at some of Trump’s broader foreign policy ideas, such as taking control of the Panama Canal, annexing Greenland, and turning Canada into a U.S. state—labeling them reckless and damaging to America's global reputation.

These remarks come amid ongoing debate over U.S. support for Ukraine and highlight Biden’s concerns about the future of American diplomacy under Trump's influence.
