The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta Akyea, has expressed deep appreciation for the swift and coordinated efforts of Ghanaian and Nigerian security agencies in rescuing Ama Serwaa Konadu, a 39-year-old woman who was abducted on April 22, 2025.

Konadu, a hairdresser and event decorator from Asiakwa in Ghana’s Eastern Region, was reportedly kidnapped and held in Nigeria. Her abductors demanded a ransom of GH₵500,000 and sent distressing videos to her family, prompting them to alert authorities.

The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the National Signals Bureau and the Nigeria Police Force, launched a joint operation that successfully led to the rescue of Konadu along with another female victim. A total of eight suspects were arrested in both Ghana and Nigeria in connection with the case.

MP Atta Akyea commended the security agencies for their rapid and effective response, highlighting the significance of cross-border cooperation in addressing transnational crimes. He also called on the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
