Kwabena Adu-Boahen, the former Director-General of Ghana’s National Signals Bureau (NSB), has been remanded into the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for seven working days by an Accra High Court. The ruling, delivered on May 2, 2025, by Justice Eugene Nyante Nyadu, allows the Attorney General’s office more time to finalize key witness statements for the ongoing prosecution.

Adu-Boahen is standing trial alongside his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, former banker Mildred Donkor, and Advantage Solutions Limited. They face 11 charges, including stealing, defrauding by false pretenses, money laundering, causing financial loss to the state, and abuse of public office for profit.

Prosecutors allege that between 2020 and 2023, Adu-Boahen masterminded a fraudulent $7 million contract with Israeli company ISC Holdings Limited for cybersecurity software, which was never delivered. The funds, originally from NSB accounts, were allegedly funneled into personal and private company accounts controlled by the accused.

The Attorney General’s office opposed a bail request, citing concerns about potential witness interference. The court agreed, highlighting that one crucial witness remains abroad and additional time is needed to prepare the case. A request by Adu-Boahen’s lawyers to include weekends in the remand period was denied.

The case has been adjourned to May 13, 2025. All the accused have pleaded not guilty. The case continues to draw significant public attention, given its implications for national security and anti-corruption efforts.
