President John Dramani Mahama has officially appointed Matilda Asante-Asiedu as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana,with the appointment taking effect from April 28, 2025. This decision  was made in accordance with section 17 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002(Act 612), as confirmed in a statement by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the president's spokeperson and Minister for Government Communications.

Mrs. Asante-Asiedu brings wealth of experience and a diverse backgroundto her new position. Before her appointment, she served as the Group Head of Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana PLC, where she played a key role in expanding the bank's retail banking operations.

Her educational qualification include an MBA in Marketing from GIMPA Business School and an MA in Journalism studies from Cardiff University. She also holds a diploma in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism and in Politics and Public Affairs Reporting from the International Institute of Journalism in Berlin. In 2024, she earned certification as a Chartered Executive Banker from CIB-Ghana.

Her appointment is seen as a timely addition to the Bank of Ghana's leadership, especially as the country continues to navigate economic challenges related to inflation, currency stability, and financial sector reforms. Her extensive banking experience is expected to play a crucial role in supporting the central bank's mission and strategic goals.
