Radio Presenter Queries GES on New Trend of Female Students Dressing Like Males in Senior High Schools

A popular radio presenter, Anyasor Ebenezer popularly known in the Media Space as Berima Kantinka of De Beat fm, Sefwi Asawinso has raised concerns about a growing trend in Senior High Schools where female students are dressing like their male counterparts on campus.

Speaking on his show Entertainment Flava Show, the presenter asked if the Ghana Education Service (GES) is aware of this recent development and what measures they plan to take to address it.

“It’s becoming increasingly common to see female students wearing baggy trousers, shirts, and even sneakers, just like the boys,” the presenter observed. “Is this a sign of a larger issue, or is it just a harmless fashion trend?”

In a surprising video sited on social media, a Senior High School located at Sefwi Bekwai(Sefwi Bekwai Senior High School, SEBESS) has largely involvement in this trend.

The presenter’s question has sparked a lively debate , with some arguing that students should be allowed to express themselves freely, while others believe that schools should maintain traditional dress codes.

The GES has yet to respond to the presenter’s query, leaving many to wonder if they are aware of the trend and what their stance is on the matter for not questioning Headmasters of those schools involved.

As the conversation continues, one thing is clear: the traditional lines between male and female fashion in Ghana’s Senior High Schools are becoming increasingly blurred
