Former First Lady Empowers Women Artisans in Nkoranza North

In a vibrant ceremony held in Nkoranza North Constituency, in the Bono East Region, former First Lady Lordina Mahama, through her Lordina Foundation, donated 120 sewing machines and 100 hair dryers to local dressmakers and hairdressers, including some items and pecuniary to 300 windows in the Nkoranza North.

The generous gesture aims to equip women artisans with the essential tools needed to enhance their trades and secure a stable livelihood.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Mrs. Mahama urged them to maintain a high level of commitment and determination in their businesses, emphasizing the importance of quality customer service.

She also highlighted the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s proposed policies, including a Free Apprenticeship Programme and the National Women Development Bank, designed to support traders, artisans, and small-scale businesses. The event featured prominent NDC leaders in the Bono East Region, including Bilal Mauzu, Deputy Director of the Traders and Artisans Network, Mr. Unass Owusu, the Bono East Regional Chairman, and Honourable Joseph Mensah, member of parliament for Nkoranza North.

They emphasized the party's commitment to empowering women, supporting small businesses, and promoting economic growth in Ghana.

Mr. Bilal Mauzu, Deputy Director of the Trade and Artisans Network, outlined the party's strategic policies to empower these groups. "The National Democratic Congress, National Apprenticeship Program offers free training and startup capital for entrepreneurs, eliminating financial barriers. The National Women Development Bank will provide loans for small-scale businesses, fostering growth and expansion", Bilal noted. He therefore emphasized that the initiatives are part of the National Democratic Congress comprehensive plan to ensure equitable distribution of resources, promoting inclusive growth and prosperity for all citizens. He added, "The party aims to address the concerns of traders and artisans through its youth wing structures".

The ceremony demonstrated the impact of community support and women's empowerment, paving the way for their brighter future.

Honourable Joseph Mensah, member of parliament for Nkoranza North constituency, promised further development for artisans if the party wins both the presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7th. This initiative showcases the NDC's dedication to investing in local talent and infrastructure, creating opportunities and improving the quality of life for all constituents.
