MTN Ghana has assured its Mobile Money (MoMo) users that their funds remain completely safe, despite a recent cybersecurity breach affecting the wider MTN Group. The company emphasized that no customer wallets have been compromised and dismissed any rumors suggesting otherwise.
According to MTN, preliminary investigations indicate that the data of around 5,700 customers in Ghana may have been impacted. However, the company is still assessing the full scope of the breach.
MTN reiterated that customer funds are secure, noting that unauthorized access is impossible unless users reveal their PINs either knowingly or unknowingly. To enhance security, MTN continues to enforce its "No ID, No MoMo" policy, which requires valid identification for transactions.
Customers are encouraged to protect their PINs, remain alert, and report any suspicious activity to MTN’s customer support team.
