Hearts of Oak coach Ouattara

Hearts of Oak coach Ouattara expresses dissatisfaction despite team's escape from relegation.

Aboubakar Ouattara, head coach of Hearts of Oak, has voiced concern about his team's performance in the 2023–24 Ghana Premier League (GPL), which nearly resulted in relegation.

With a vital 3-2 win over Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday, June 16, the Phobians retained their Premier League status, narrowly avoiding relegation.

Hearts of Oak secured their spot in the premier league for the upcoming season with a goal from Yaw Amankwah Baafi.

While the relief was welcome, Ouattara expressed his dissatisfaction with his team's overall performance, stating that he is not thrilled about their struggles to survive.

"After this match, I must admit that I am not very pleased because Hearts of Oak should be in a better position," the Ivorian coach said.

We started the second round just seven points behind the league leaders following three wins and four losses. Until now, we have fought for our lives. He expressed his disappointment in a post-match interview.

Next season, Accra Great Olympics will be joining Real Tamale United and Bofoakwa Tano in relegation to the Division One League.

Young Apostles FC, Basake Holy Stars, and Vision FC, all of which were promoted from the Division One League, will take their places.
