GHANA LAUNCHES 5-DAY VISA PROCESSING POLICY TO BOOST TOURISM AND INVESTMENT
VISA PROCESSING POLICY
Ghana has announced a new visa policy that significantly reduces the processing time for visa applications to just five working days. This reform, introduced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, marks a major shift from the previous timeline of four to six weeks.
The main goal of this policy is to enhance Ghana’s global appeal as a destination for both tourists and investors. By making the visa application process faster and more efficient, the government hopes to make travel to Ghana more convenient and accessible.
Although the decision time has been shortened, the authorities clarified that this does not guarantee automatic visa approval. Applicants will be notified of either approval or denial within the five-day period.
To support this policy shift, the Ghanaian government has invested in strengthening its diplomatic missions around the world, ensuring they have the necessary resources to handle the expedited processing. The initiative is part of President Mahama’s broader agenda to open up the country to more business and tourism opportunities.
