EC ABD POLICE ENGAGE INTALKS AHEAD OF ABLEKUMA NORTH ELECTION RESULTS ANNOUNCEMENT

ABLEKUMA NORTH ELECTION RESULTS

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana and the Ghana Police Service have initiated high-level discussions aimed at addressing security concerns ahead of the official announcement of the Ablekuma North parliamentary election results.

This comes after a series of tensions and violent disruptions marred the collation process in the constituency. One major incident was a fire outbreak at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools on December 17, 2024, which destroyed essential electoral materials. In response, the EC assured the public that it would employ alternative verification methods to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the results.

Further unrest occurred when supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) forcefully entered the EC’s Accra Regional Office. The incident led to property damage and forced the temporary suspension of the collation process due to security threats. Amid the growing pressure, the EC firmly stated that no individual or group could compel it to release results prematurely, reinforcing its constitutional independence and commitment to due process.

To restore order and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process, the EC is working closely with the Ghana Police Service to create a secure environment that allows the smooth completion of the collation and eventual declaration of results.

Residents of Ablekuma North have expressed anxiety over the prolonged delay and are urging political actors and supporters to remain calm and allow the EC to conduct its duties without interference. Despite the tense atmosphere, the EC has reiterated its dedication to transparency and accuracy, promising that final results will be declared after all necessary verifications are concluded.
